Take your new DVR burner, open it up the same way, remove its controller board, replace it with your recorders controller board, connect the ribbon cables, reassemble the drive. I have no problem keeping it if you need it more. Be sure to register your computer drive to receive updates on new firmware. Is this the drive model which will replace it.
